New York City is committed to
improving the standards of court facilities in all five
boroughs. CJC coordinates infrastructure improvements, working
toward the goals of improving the public experience in Civil and Criminal
Courts, as well as upgrading the functions of the courthouses to meet the needs
of the City’s criminal justice system.
Recent accomplishments include the construction of a
680,000-square-foot criminal courthouse in the Bronx which has decompressed
and improved the functions of both criminal and family court
facilities; the construction of a new criminal and family court in
Brooklyn; and the design of a new court complex on Staten
Island, currently under construction (see the design of
the complex below).
