Senior Project Manager—Planning And Sustainability

Job Description

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for helping to guide the development of DOT’s DriveSmart and Personalized Travel Choice (PTC) programs, which aims to provide New Yorkers with cost, time, and safety benefits through travel information, in-vehicle and communication technologies, software applications and related components. DriveSmart and PTC are key parts of DOT’s strategic package of sustainability initiatives as leading-edge technology and traveler information programs which are key components of making the most efficient and environmentally sensitive use of the city’s transit system and limited roadway capacity.

As Senior Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing project scope, timelines, specific analyses to be completed, implementation of field tests, program evaluation, contract management and drafting funding proposals. The individual will interface with both technical and non-technical individuals in the development of DriveSmart and PTC programs. Coordinate work across divisions and with outsider partners to ensure project objectives and timelines are met. Conduct or supervise complex research of various technologies and programs in the realm of customer travel information, automotive telematics and wireless communications. Support efforts in ongoing relationship building and marketing of the DriveSmart program. Create and deliver materials that effectively communicate key project findings and recommendations to various audiences (e.g., senior EDC staff, City Hall staff, partner agencies, external stakeholders, etc.). Performs related duties.

Qualification Requirements

1. A master's degree in transportation planning or transportation engineering; or
2. A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience performing technical work on highway transportation and traffic studies and area-wide traffic programs; or 3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or
4. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "2" above; or
5. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in "2" above.

Essential Skills

Three years of relevant work experience with technology, implementation, or ITS programs, either with a consulting firm or governmental entity. Experience in Telematics is desirable. Knowledge of current industry trends in tolling, telematics and in-vehicle devices is preferred. Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills. Project management experience; ability to set up the problem; manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables against tight timelines in a proactive and collaborative style that works well in teams. Ability to prioritize among competing needs and opportunities and manage multiple projects at the same time. Familiarity with marketing communications and product development. Familiarity with product testing and rollout, customer care, and project evaluation. Familiarity with social media techniques.

In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements above: To be assigned to Assignment Level III, the candidate must have an additional two years of experience as described in the "Qualification Requirements" listed under "2" above.

Salary Range: $62,942/$72,383–92,249
