The Department of Transportation (DOT) launched the nation’s
largest comprehensive commercial cycling education and safety campaign,
which included hosting 33 forums citywide, educating business and
delivery cyclists about the law’s requirements, and conducted
door-to-door outreach to more than 4,000 businesses to explain the
safety requirements. Businesses that employ delivery cyclists must
provide safety equipment, including lights, a helmet, bell and apparel,
as well as post the commercial cyclist safety poster.

an awards ceremony for the 27th Annual Water Resources Art & Poetry
Contest. More than 1,000 students (Grades 2-12) from NYC and Watershed
communities were honored.

NYCHA continues to reduce the number of open work orders to less than 274,000 from a peak of 423,000 as of May 1, 2013. The reduction is a result of NYCHA's Maintenance and Repair Action Plan to improve its efficiency and eliminate the backlog by the end of 2013.
